About Positive Movement New Haven Media

 Positive Movement New Haven Media began as a simple Facebook page published on June 4, 2019, by founder and Chief Positivity Officer Kevin York. It all started with a single photo — a shot of Mike’s cheese curds at a local festival. 

 For the next nine months, the page shared random snapshots of life around New Haven. At that time, the page had fewer than 100 followers, but something special was happening. In the comments, people were tagging friends saying things like “This is where I grew up” or “This is the city I’m moving to.” That spark of hometown pride planted the seed for what would grow into a true community movement. 

 By spring of 2020, as the pandemic began to weigh heavily on everyone, Kevin felt called to take things further — to help lift spirits and unite the community. Over the next two years, the mission became clear: to promote positivity and build relationships — from local business owners to city officials and everyone in between. 

 Some of the most memorable moments came during the 2020 Holiday Homecoming season. When the annual event was cancelled due to COVID-19, New Haven got creative. Santa took to the neighborhoods on a fire truck, spreading cheer throughout the city — and Kevin was invited to ride along in another fire department vehicle to film the event from start to finish. That same night, the video was shared on Facebook and received an outpouring of love from the community.

  Just a week later, Kevin launched another project — the first-ever “Holiday Greetings from Friends Around New Haven” video. He traveled around town filming local businesses, families, and community members as they shared warm holiday messages. The finished video brought New Haven together online, reminding everyone that even in hard times, the city’s spirit shines bright.  

Then came February 2021, which Kevin declared Local Business Month on the platform. He met countless new faces, made videos, and shared posts that highlighted the hidden gems that make New Haven special. As restrictions eased, 2021 became a summer of positivity — with Positive Movement New Haven Media covering ribbon cuttings, Memorial Day, Flag Day, Summerfest, car shows, M3 markets, the Holiday Homecoming, and more. Each year ended with a highlight video celebrating the positive moments that defined New Haven.  

While the platform has taken short breaks since, its mission has never changed — to keep things positive, promote local pride, and uplift the community.  

Today, Positive Movement New Haven Media continues to grow across multiple platforms — including its official website PositivemovementNHMedia.com, TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, and LinkedIn. Kevin York proudly leads the platform into its next chapter, focused on one guiding question:  How can Positive Movement New Haven Media continue to help our community — and create a movement that lasts more than a lifetime?
